2020 Dhondt-Grellet, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Les Plantes d'Oger

Champagne, France | 100% Chardonnay | Extra-Brut

Sourced from a cool, north-east facing parcel situated right between Oger and Le Mesnil, Les Plantes d’Oger shows the pure, tensile side of the Côte des Blancs. The 2020 vintage is a masterclass in crystalline purity, unfolding with green apple, honeysuckle, lime, and crisp pear. Compact, linear, and driven by electric acidity, it leads to a searingly chalky, mineral finish. A bottle built for purists.

Released under Adrien Dhondt’s micro-négociant project, production is strictly limited to fewer than 2,000 bottles per vintage, making these allocations as elusive as they are extraordinary.

Champagne, France | 100% Chardonnay | WA 94+/100

Think of this as the more giving, ample side of Le Mesnil. Grown on a chalky, east-facing upper slope, low-yielding old vines deliver remarkable concentration, unfolding with Nashi pear, orange oil, beeswax, and a touch of Madagascar vanilla. Ample yet incisive, it cuts through the classic austerity of the 2021 vintage with beautiful balance and a long, precise finish.

Adrien Dhondt's négociant project explores the diverse terroirs of the Côte des Blancs through meticulous, low-intervention winemaking. Each vintage offers a rare perspective on these hallowed chalk soils.

Champagne, France | 100% Chardonnay | Extra-Brut

Les Plantes d’Oger comes from a section of vines boarding Le Mesnil. Here, Chardonnay thrives in intensely chalky soils, producing Champagnes renowned for their precision, tension and distinctive mineral character. The 2021 vintage, shaped by a cool and challenging growing season, lends itself beautifully to Adrien Dhondt’s finely judged, terroir-driven style.

Bright and wonderfully focused, the wine opens with aromas of lemon zest, crisp green apple and white flowers, followed by subtle notes of brioche and freshly baked pastry. On the palate, layers of citrus and orchard fruit are carried by a striking chalky minerality and vibrant acidity. Saline, energetic and beautifully persistent, the finish is long and mouth-watering, leaving an unmistakable impression of Le Mesnil’s great chalk terroir.
