Simon Faure is the most intriguing name to be emerging from the southern reaches of Burgundy. Originally trained as an electrician, he exchanged cables for vineyards and has, in remarkably short order, established himself as a thoughtful and highly capable winemaker. His approach is notably restrained: low-intervention in the cellar, attentive in the vineyard and always guided by a deep founded respect for terroir. His wines are limited in production and highly sought after by those in the know!

Faure works with fruit picked from some of the Mâconnais’ most prized vineyards. He farms and vinifies with a clear intention to let place speak louder than process. His debut vintage, 2023, announced that intention with confidence. The wines are precise and finely judged, offering an unforced expression of terroir with admirable clarity. They possess a certain charm and levity that sets them apart from other producers. Fermentation takes place in older oak barrels, and it is handled judiciously. This lends texture and nuance without obscuring detail in the wine. Current production is around 10,000 bottles, with modest growth expected in the coming vintages. Quantities, however, remain scarce. These are bottles unlikely to stay unnoticed for long!

We have secured our first-ever allocation of the tiny 2024 vintage. We are bringing two showstoppers from Simon’s cellars straight to UK shores in a few months - bottles that trade stuffy Burgundy hierarchies for high-voltage pleasure at a fair price. As always, we are giving first dibs to our closest friends. Get in before the word gets out!

The Saint-Véran 2024 is the luminous side of the range - delicate and vibrant, it leads with aromas of ripe pear and damp chalk before hitting the palate with a refreshing, saline clarity. In contrast, the Pouilly-Fuissé 2024 is a more muscular, seductive beast; grown on ancient limestone marl, it offers deeper notes of light honey and dried apricot with a silky, ample texture that is pinned down by a remarkably precise and mouth-watering finish. Both wines are bottled without additives and fermented with a transparency that proves exactly why the old Burgundy guard should be looking over their shoulders.
