Front Porch Farm lies along a wild stretch of the Russian River, due east of Healdsburg. The farm rests on a bench of rich alluvial soils surrounded by low hills forming a pocket valley. This is a mixed farm comprising olives, other fruits and vegetables, grains, flowers, and of course, grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc. The property is therefore a domaine – unusual in this part of the world.

Out of the 40 acres cultivated at the farm, only 12 are dedicated to vines. While the flatter parts are saved for flowers, vegetables, fruit trees and livestock, the steep hillsides are dedicated to grapes. Rhone varieties have found a home here. The Mediterranean climate offers enough warmth and sunlight for these varieties to fully ripen while the proximity of the Russian River moderates temperature extremes and allows them to express their complexity and vibrancy.

Front Porch Farm believes in the quality of its grapes and they do not use selected yeasts or inorganic nutrients or large amounts of sulfur dioxide. They are certified organic, and believe they are not just growing plants; they are also supporting a whole ecosystem, and this takes time, experience, and dedication.
