The Péré Vergé family, more than just owners of Monteviejo winery, are a family passionate about the great wines of the world. Under the entrepreneurial vision and driven nature of Catherine, they came to Argentina at the end of the 90s in order to build a winery in one of their favourite places in the world. The winery was constructed in 2001 and is situated in the Clos de los Siete countryside. The land comprises 130 hectares and slopes face the North and East giving them better sun exposure in the Southern Hemisphere. The terrain has poorly structured, loam and stony soils, ideal for high quality vines. Amongst the varieties planted are the emblematic grape of Argentina, Malbec. There is also Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. The winemaking is done with respect for great viniculture tradition: by hand, with no fertilisers.
