As early as 1948, Heinz Knipser started bottling wine and marketed it directly to private clients and gastronomy. In the early 70s his son Werner became the first full-time vintner and the business has since flourished and seen continuous growth. In the mid 80s today’s owners, brothers Volker and Werner Knipser, started barrique vinification. The brothers presented their first red wines of international standard. Since then, they have put all efforts into optimising both wine quality and improving the terroir. Their focus is Große Gewächse Riesling and Pinot Noir. The majority of their premium wines are sold only after several years of maturation in the bottle. Since 2003 all wines are vinified in the new purpose built cellars on the periphery of Laumersheim ensuring optimum conditions for premium quality wines.
