Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri who saw the gigantic potential in wines from Montalcino soils. Giacomo then passed on the estate to his son, also named Giacomo, in 1991. The first cultivated plot was Cerretalto, followed by Cetine and Pietradonice Podernovo. The philosophy of Casanova di Neri is for all the different soils to be expressed through meticulous work in the vineyard to produce the best possible grapes, followed by a slow and gentle elevage. Each cru is individually vinified in to conserve its characteristics. Casanova di Neri now produces one of the greatest wines of Brunello. The estate currently covers an area of approximately 500 hectares including 63 vines and 20 olive trees, while the rest consists of arable land and forests.
