We are delighted that our partner Julien Cecillon has received rave reviews from Joe Czerwinski in the Wine Advocate for his gorgeous Crozes Hermitage and Saint Joseph. Well deserved!
2015 Julien Cecillon • Crozes Hermitage Les Marguerites
The compelling 2015 Crozes Hermitage Les Marguerites comes from 80-year-old vines in the north (granite-based) portion of the appellation. It offers briary, raspberry and blueberry fruit, plenty of weight and richness, a creamy mouthfeel and a long, silky finish layered with hints of asphalt, black olive and lingering spice. It should drink well for 6-7 years, perhaps longer. Drink 2018 - 2025 93/100. Joe Czerwinski 234, The Wine Advocate. Dec 2017
2016 Julien Cecillon • Crozes Hermitage Les Marguerites
he medium to full-bodied 2016 Crozes Hermitage Les Marguerites, from 80-year-old vines in the granitic north of the appellation, shows a little more tannin than many wines this vintage, but it supports that structure with plenty of blueberry fruit. There's violets and pepper on the nose, a creamy, ripe mid-palate and then a long, firm finish. Nicely done. Drink 2019 - 2025 91-93/100. Joe Czerwinski 234, The Wine Advocate. Dec 2017
2016 Julien Cecillon • Saint Joseph Babylone
The potentially outstanding 2016 Saint Joseph Babylone could be a bit of a sleeper. It's spicy, herbal and complex on the nose, marked by hints of clove, bacon and cracked pepper. Dark fruit floods the palate, but there's also a hint of adhesive bandage. This could be exciting if that stays in check, or things could go all pear-shaped. Stay tuned for how it looks next year out of bottle. Drink 2020 - 2030 89-91?/100. Joe Czerwinski 234, The Wine Advocate. Dec 2017
