Domaine Prieuré Roch 2010 Vintage

2010 was an outstanding vintage for Yannick Champ, winemaker of Domaine Prieuré Roch. Unlike the warm 2009 vintage that resulted in ripe approachable wines, 2010 in Burgundy was appreciably cooler. The vines benefited greatly and Yannick has been able to create wines with remarkable purity and finesse. Their freshness is reminiscent of the 2008 vintage, where fresh fruit and balanced acidity were the key features. When tasting in October, the star of the show was undoubtedly Le Clos de Corvées, Nuits St Georges 1er Cru. Less than 4,000 bottles were produced from this monopole in 2010 and it is already showing signs of being a superb wine.

Background

Domaine Prieuré Roch was founded in 1988 in Nuits St Georges by Henry-Frédéric Roch, co-director of Domaine Romanée-Conti. Here in the UK, Domaine Prieuré Roch remains one of the best-kept secrets from Burgundy despite its long-held cult status in Japan. The production is extremely small. Wine Source Group is proud to act as their exclusive agents in the UK.
